    Nice Deal on Model 19's

    Altec model 19 speakers

    These will probably sell fast at that price. Those metal grills have got to go!

    The the original grilles fit over the metal, I actually think it's a good idea....... helps to keep fingers and whatever from poking at the woofers.

    It's a good idea in theory but I've installed metal grills like that (on PA speakers) and they tend to rattle when you crank them up especially with certain low bass notes. Maybe not in all installations--but personally, I've had bad luck with those metal grills in the past so I prefer cloth. I remove the cloth grills when listening at home, but agree grills are important protection when the speakers aren't in use.....

    I've often wished I had finger protectors over my speakers But I know it would drive me crazy knowing how much they would hamper the performance. And since I have no animals or kids or anyone living with me I risk leaving them out in the open.
